Information for Parents/ Guardians & Carers of young people (under 16)

We have a rule at the club whereby young people under 16 years who are not competent enough archers to shoot without supervision must have a parent/guardian/carer (P/G/C) present beside them at all times. The P/G/C is asked to stay with their child, listen to what the instructor is saying, help the child understand and assist their child with what has been taught so the instructor can move down the line to check if any of the other young people are in need of assistance.

Once a child under 16 years becomes competent enough to shoot without supervision a P/G/C is still expected to be present at the club within sight of the child as there is situations where instructors have to be 'hands on' with a child from time to time in order to help set them up into the correct shooting/bow handling positions.

This in line with Scottish Archery's Child Wellbeing and Protection Policy. Something I'm sure every P/G/C will fully understand and appreciate.

Scottish Archery is the governing body for Archery in Scotland
